Infrastructure Workforce Exposure Map
Where are major infrastructure investments likely to place overlapping demands on the same skilled workforce?

Objective
Develop a governed geographic research view connecting data-center, power-generation, and transmission/grid project evidence with comparable workforce measures while keeping lifecycle, coverage, timing, and uncertainty visible.
Why it matters
National totals can conceal local constraints. Projects depend on occupations, contractors, commuting patterns, and schedules that vary sharply by place and are not captured by a single source.
Current work
- Defining the first scope across data centers, power generation, and transmission/grid infrastructure.
- Defining comparable geography, project, occupation, lifecycle, and time units.
- Reviewing source rights, coverage, lineage, and public-use constraints.
- Separating observed inputs from derived exposure measures and interpretation.
Research approach
- Use public or otherwise permitted sources with documented lineage.
- Publish coverage and missingness alongside any map or indicator.
- Avoid treating exposure as a forecast, project outcome, or causal effect.
Expected outputs
A versioned exposure-map research prototype.
